Brick Staining

Hello everyone,

I am pleased to announce that there is an alternative to change colour of your tired looking brick . Instead of painting it , which then in turn will not last . It can over time chip , crack , or even peel in some cases.

So now there are products that absorb into the brick . It’s called Brick Staining.

Firstly you need to prep old brick by power washing it to get any sediment or discolouration off . Once that is done you can apply a first coat which is called a Primer . Which is a milky substance which can be applied by hand or by spray . This will help the pours of the brick to accept an even coat for the Brick Stain .

This first step will help give an even and more nicer look of the colour .

Then it’s ready for any colour you choose for your Brick . The picture above is what the brick looked like before we added the colour of Brick Stain .

Then I chose to spray the brick because the colour of the mortar was also looking tired . So we decided to spray everything giving it an even look on both walls . But in some cases you may do it by hand if you intend to leave the mortar colour original . Below I will show you the finished product with the colour that was chosen for this project.

So as you can see the brick colour that was done , was a colour match to the Hardy Board that was applied around the house . So it now looks and flows with the rest of the house .

Colour even goes well with the stucco colour . All in all the Brick Staining method has a 20 to 30 year guarantee. It will withstand the elements much better than traditional exterior paint .

So consider Brick Staining for your next project it comes in any colour possible. Also it’s safe to use and not a harsh chemical. It is a water based product , for easy clean up for washing your tools or spray machine .
